Ioan was diagnosed with specific language impairment, now developmental language disorder (DLD), at the age of five.

He had an EHCP throughout his schooling. Imogen, his mum, has become a specialist speech and language teacher, and Jotham, Ioan’s older brother, has been influenced in his studies and career choices by having a neurodiverse sibling.
