What our customers say about our impact

Thousands of schools in the UK and overseas trust us to provide the best quality, evidence-based tools and support.

Our award-winning packages enable a range of schools to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) across the whole school and facilitate working more closely with parents and carers.

As a leading provider of SLCN tools, in 2023-2024 our products helped screen over 229,000 students and over 93,000 were identified as requiring intervention.

Impact on a particular student

Before intervention the child was finding class work a struggle, misconceptions or words, following instructions etc. During sessions we worked a lot on following instructions, breaking things down, one step at a time. The child now has things in place in class to help the better break down a task.

I met a child in Reception, who struggled to speak or understand what was going on in the class. Language Link was a blessing in disguise, as I was able to use the assessment to work out what areas he struggled with. We were quite surprised with the results, as it appeared he did in fact understand he was simply struggling to process and express his answers. I worked with the child, following the programmes until the boy was in year 2, when he was assessed I was so happy to see that he no longer needed an intervention. The Teachers said he had closed the gap within his setting and was even putting his hand up to answer questions. This year, he did his SATs. I am so proud of him.

We’ve seen an improvement in this child’s motivation and eagerness to learn. It has also improved his attention, listening skills and turn-taking.

TA / Speech and Language Intervention, Village School

Language Link has been incredibly beneficial for a specific child in terms of being able to assess, plan, do and review.  We have used the screen to formally back up our concerns and then using the resources, have developed some bespoke interventions for them.  We were then able to use the screen at the end of the intervention, to show progress.

A child who is EAL and displayed signs of autistic tendencies, who had not been to nursery was assessed in Reception. When assessed it showed red crosses in all areas. I started working with him and 1 other targeting Concepts, he also joined another speech and language L.S.A. implementing interventions for certain groups e.g. verbs, instructions. He is now due to finish Year 1 and is a different child, much more confident, outgoing, happy to speak, reinforces the rules and actions required in interventions. By identifying the areas of language and being able to reassess his progress it made it easier to address and target his learning.

Speech and Language L.S.A., Primary Academy

A Year 2 pupil who we weren’t particularly worried about had a Language Link result which showed his language development was just in the low average range. Using this information and the resources in the program, he underwent an intervention group. When retested, his language result was now solidly in the average range. We appreciated the insight the Language Link result gave us. Without it, this child’s overall progress may have been impacted by the gaps in his language development.

Impact of our assessments

If a child is quiet, shy, non verbal, selective mute, limited speech, EAL, the Language Link assessment will highlight any gaps which may have been overseen in class due to children copying/masking their lack of understanding.

The assessment is really important to advise the support we provide to children. In our whole class language screen, we find this really important to make sure we do not miss any children. We have had a few children who have flagged that we thought understood well. We were then able to put in strategies to support through inclusion and adaptive practice.

I recently had a child who appeared very knowledgeable, spoke very well, could follow multiple instructions. However the assessment showed the level of understanding (verb tenses, concepts) was extremely low. Myself and the teacher were shocked with the outcome, but when completing interventions sessions, it was clear that the child needed the intervention.

…some of our younger children can present with behaviour issues or perceived defiance but actually looking at assessment reports it’s identified the child doesn’t have a good understanding of negatives etc. It can also help us identify children who rely heavily on their peers in social and learning situations.

Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, Pre-School

…the assessment is a great tool and I have been able to use it help Teachers gather evidence for children. They are also then aware of the gaps and the areas of need, which enables them to differentiate the work. I did assess a child once, that needed an intervention and the teacher was surprised as she thought the child understood in class.

Language Support Lead, Primary School

The assessment is easy to use and covers a variety of concepts and targets a wide understanding of language. I always find that the ‘fewest’ and questions targeting prepositional language/before and after tend to be the most occurring questions that children tend to struggle with.. this maybe as these concepts are not generally taught in class as a lesson.

Pupil Report Impact

I find language link invaluable, it helps identify certain areas of language that children struggle with that can then be targeted through interventions or within class. We have many children who are EAL learners this helps us identify their needs. Sometimes when assessing the most articulate child, who you believe will pass the assessment, it will show they have difficulties in an area you were unaware of.

Speech and Language L.S.A., Primary Academy

The reports have been used to help with further referrals for outside Speech and Language therapists, and support the evidence for an EHCP. I have also been asked by OTs and Play therapists, to provide evidence of their Speech and Language needs, so the reports were very useful to show a breakdown of the areas that needed support.

Language Support Lead, Primary School

We use the reports for our Learning plans showing we have assessed ,planned ,applied and reviewed. The reports help with referrals showing severe language delay and lack of progress when reassessed 6 months later. This evidence fits the NHS referral criteria and enables a child to be assessed further by the SALT team

LSA, SALT, Primary School

We use them to determine who we need to work with as a group but also to flag them u with other adults that work with them so they know areas they are struggling with. Referrals are taking forever at the current time so to have a programme that we can start and work with the child while waiting in referral is amazing.

Speech and Language TA, Willowbrook School

Individual reports have been really helpful in referring children…We will continue to use Speech Link and Language Link reports to accompany referrals. The information is invaluable. At a classroom level, the reports for children needing support are printed which helps to group them and target specific gaps.

Training and Resources Impact

The whole package is a huge support. The training is detailed and easy to access. The assessment is child friendly, enjoyable and excellent data to use for targets. The resources are colourful and engaging. The parent portal is excellent for our parents to support the child.

SEN Specialist Support and Cover Supervisor, Primary Academy

The training is fab! Its gives a chance to keep refreshed and share ideas with others. I also the love the parent worksheets, I send these home during school holidays, they are very easy for parents to follow.

Over the years Infant Language Link has made a positive impact on many children.  It not only helps us identify the gaps it provides resources to help support the children close the gap.

Speech & Language Therapy Assistant, Temple Hill Primary Academy

I love the annual training sessions, they are always so informative. The resources provided with the interventions programmes are wonderful and save time trying to come up with my own. I have also made use of the resources for parents, who have been very grateful.

Language Support Lead, Primary School

The training videos are helpful but most importantly the voice on the other end of the phone.  When we call with a quick, specific question, there is a knowledgeable, experienced human being on the line who knows the realities of classroom teaching and how to best utilise the program.  So, for us, we can resolve things positively and efficiently.  The human aspect can’t be overstated.
